Review: You know, waiting for something other than Christopher Walken plays the film is part of a professional assassin - and she's not even one of the bad guys! Although he could do a bit of trimming here and there makes sense, Man on Fire is generally an effective crime drama, which is different from the sentimental tone of the public to clean up the brutal - and almost all the tone imaginable between.Denzel Washington stars as Creasy, a former CIA assassin who has recently gone out of business and is looking for some sort of atonement for the sins FO R hes down. So far hes been looking for answers to the bottle and the Bible, and not doing so well either. As the film opens, Mexico City is ravaged by a series of kidnappings targeting the powerful and well-to-do, it may be committed by a police assigned to maintain law and order in the society. Creasy takes the position bodyguard daughter of a wealthy entrepreneur who justifiably fear of his safety. The first third of the film is devoted to the growing friendship with him, and Creasy, Pita, a cute little girl who slowly but surely works its way Creasy initially tempered RTA and good feelings. The last two-thirds of the movie turn into melodrama Avenging Angel, as Creasy and systematically trying to eliminate all of those responsible for the tragedy that occurs at an early novel by AJ Quinnell story.Based, Man on Fire, cleverly written by Brian Helgeland and directed by Tony Scott, shrilly, is coldly effective action picture that never dares the raw brutality of the content. It takes a risk by asking us to identify with a man who is for all intents and purposes, in order to achieve its buyout of torturing and killing (though disreputable) people. These scenes of carnage and violence is so intense and exciting, even if they sometimes borders on exploitative. Even better is a quiet, intimate moments between Creasy and Pita at the beginning parts of the film. Washington and Dakota Fanning to create a lovely natural, easygoing report that will help set the stage for the chaos and confusion that follow.Washington film bears his stoic right quality, then r us understand her character on an emotional level, even if he does eludes us intellectually. In addition to the two wires are solid performances Walken, Marc Anthony, Radha Mitchell, Mickey Rourke, Rachel Ticotin and Giancarlo Giannini. But this is Washington, and the delightful Miss Fanning who steals show.Man the Fire would have been better for about a half hour into its running time, but it's still better to A, n-average thriller. |
